Hyundai has developed new technology to assist hearing-impaired drivers on the road
Hyundai embodies the phrase, "freedom of mobility," and they're making an effort to make sure every driver behind the wheel of a Hyundai can experience this. That's why Hyundai has developed technology to assist hearing-impaired drivers.

Since hearing-impaired drivers can't rely on their hearing, Hyundai's new technology helps them by translating sounds into audio and visual cues. An artificial intelligence system analyzes sounds outside the car so that it's able to detect what type of sound it is and which direction it is coming from.

Audio-Visual Conversion

This system uses two different methods to communicate sound: Audio-Visual Conversion and Audio-Tactile Conversion. Audio-Visual Conversion detects sounds outside the car and translates these into an image that is then displayed on the windshield through Head-Up Display. Not only will it display what type of sound it is, but also where the sound is located.

Audio-Tactile Conversion

Audio-Tactile Conversion uses a sense of touch to communicate to alert the driver of how far the sound is from the car. This is communicated through vibration patterns or the number of vibrations in the driver's seat or steering wheel.

These systems help hearing-impaired drivers be more aware and confident behind the wheel. If you want to see this system in action, check out the "Quiet Taxi" video here.
