Hyundai Veloster Grappler Concept - Gossett Hyundai South - Memphis, TN
The 2019 SEMA show had an exciting reveal from Hyundai, an all-new concept based off the beloved Veloster compact called the "Grappler".

The Grappler is a Veloster made for the wilderness. Somewhere between an SUV and a dune buggy, its upgraded suspension, exterior, and features make it the perfect, sporty small vehicle to get you into those remote spots where adventure teems.

The Look

Starting on the exterior, the first thing you see is its new increased ground clearance giving it excellent approach and departure angles. Your eye then draws down to the massive rally-themed Method Racing® wheels with huge all-terrain tires achieving both an intimidating look and practical capability.

Newly developed front and rear brush guards help protect against the bumps and scrapes of off-roading, and Borla® cat-back exhaust components give it a meaty sound. Up front, heavy-duty desert lights sit below the Seibon® carbon-fiber hood that vents excess heat and adds a bold design.

The Basket

Crowning the Veloster Grappler is a Thule® utility basket mounted to the roof. The basket provides an array of benefits to remote driving. Extra cargo space allows for plenty of gear or a spare tire, a line of high-powered Baja Designs® lighting illuminates the night, and it provides the base mount for a removable Goal Zero® solar panel, powering a portable power station inside the cabin, making any wild spot home base.

Interior

It's not just about ruggedness. The Recaro® seats feature vintage hounds tooth pattern for style and comfort. Outside lights are accessible from an interior switch panel, and Hyundai makes it more than a concept, with plenty of currently accessible accessories like ambient footwell lighting, sport pedals, and a sport shifter.

New for the Grappler are an integrated roll bar, traction mats, tools like an oversized utility shovel and roadside assistance kit, and to truly make any spot your campsite, an included Napier® outdoor dome tent.

Just a Concept?

Though revealed at SEMA as a concept, the Veloster has already released activity-specific models like the race-inspired Veloster N. We wouldn't be surprised if the off-roading Grappler showed up at Gossett Hyundai South one day to outdoor-lovers' delight. Stay tuned!
